I have this vision that I want to build a sustainable winning culture here. And to be culture is really about doing things the right way… when things are good or things are bad, you live by those core values because that’s what’s keeps you on the right path.
Washington Football Team head coach Ron Rivera on building the culture in Washington.
Ron Rivera was hired by the then Washington Redskins as the team’s new head coach on January 1, 2020. Under immense pressure, the team changed its name to The Washington Football Team in July. Shortly thereafter he was diagnosed with cancer. Rivera was treated for the cancer during the season and despite receiving chemotherapy regularly, did not miss any games. He helped lead Washington to the NFC East title. Rivera talks with the Radio BOSS about changing the culture in Washington, about why he took the job, about his star player Chase Young, and about the diversity within the organization.
