Where is MLB’s Real Commitment to the Black Community? Editor
Good for Major League Baseball on pulling its All-Star Game out of Atlanta because of the new, racist voting law in Georgia implemented to suppress the minority vote and more specifically the Black vote. While I don’t want to downplay the significance of what MLB did, in the Black community, if MLB had continued with the All-Star Game in the summer, would we really have cared or made a big fuss about it? Would those outside of the Black community really have made a fuss? NBA or NFL in a similar situation, certainly. It’s a situation where MLB inserted itself which was a surprise to everyone, thus a big deal is being made of it. You call it proactive? I don’t. What I want to talk about is the lack of Black players in MLB, why the problem exists, and what is MLB doing to rectify the problem. (These are my thoughts prior to MLB’s announcement about pulling the All-Star Game.) Download or listen to this podcast.
